Sensei Blair Purdy
Blair began studying Goju-Ryu Karate at the early age of 4 under the tutelage of his father, Hanshi Jay Purdy. When he was old enough Blair began training diligently with Renshi William Hind, head of the Canada Goju Association at the Hombu Dojo in Toronto. When Blair turned 16 and after earning his 1st degree black belt he accompanied his father to Okinawa Japan to study with the world renown master Dai Sensei Meitoku Yagi and his son Meitatsu at the respected Yagi dojo in Naha city.
Sensei Blair is now a 4th degree black belt and with over 40 years experience he has been teaching for more than half of them. Sensei Blair Purdy still teaches privately in and around the GTA but is focusing mainly on his classes at the Purdy Centre for the Arts in King Township just North of Toronto. He accommodates all ages and varying levels of skill offering both private and regular lessons. The classes are driven by his usual no nonsense approach to self-defense that deals with today’s modern martial arts issues. “ It’s not about laying your hands on someone else….. It’s all about keeping someone else’s hands off of you.”
Located in King Township and established in 2003, the Purdy Center for the Arts provides a relaxed environment that inspires the dedicated advancement of Karate. Influenced by many disciplines, the martial arts classes offered at the Purdy Center for the Arts focus on providing a confident and centered lifestyle for students through practical physical applications of martial movements.
The Purdy Centre for the Arts is a proud member of the Canadian Naha-Te Goju Karate Association
